This indicator refers to the number of persons aged 65 years and over that reported they lived alone in a private household in their Census of Population return.
The indicator also includes data for households with one adult aged 65 years and over and their ability to make ends meet. Households were asked to rate their self-perceived level of difficulty in making ends meet, with the answer options being: ‘with great difficulty’; ‘with difficulty’; ‘with some difficulty’; ‘fairly easily’; ‘easily’; ‘very easily’.
