The Dublin & Mid-East Region (Dublin, Kildare, Louth, Meath, and Wicklow) is the largest producer of Crops, producing 25% of all Irish Crops in 2025. They accounted for 38% of the value of the region’s Agricultural Output at Basic Prices. Cattle were responsible for just 24% of the value of its output with Milk generating an additional 22%.
The region had the lowest growth rate (+9%) in the value of its Agricultural Output at Basic Prices, which was up €143m to €1.8bn. It had the highest rate of growth in the value of its Cattle, which rose by 39% (+€119m) to €424m and the lowest rate of growth in Milk values, which rose by 4% (+€14m) to €392m, just half the national average rate of growth in Milk values. Crop values were down by 2% (-€11m) to €671m, despite an increase of €8m (+6%) in Cereal values.
The region had the second highest rate of increase (+7%) in Intermediate Consumption costs, which rose by €61m to €915m. The cost of Maintenance & Repairs grew by 39% (+€24m), more than double the national average rate of increase (+17%). Fertilisers cost the region an additional €16m in 2025, while Veterinary Expenses were up 22% (+€8m). Payments received for Other Subsidies less Taxes on Production increased by 9% (+€16m) to €190m. The net impact of all the changes on the region’s income was a rise of 18% (+€109m) to €719m in Operating Surplus, while its Entrepreneurial Income grew by 28% (+€137m) to €628m (See Table 1.1 and PxStat Table ACA03).
