COVID-19 Release Information

This publication has been compiled during the COVID-19 crisis. The results contained in this publication reflect some of the economic impacts of the COVID-19 situation.

Public transport (bus, Luas and rail)

A total of 120.2 million passengers were carried on scheduled bus services, 19.2 million passengers travelled on the Luas and 17.9 million passengers travelled by rail in 2020.
Iarnród Éireann carried 449,000 tonnes of freight in 2020. This was an increase of 103,000 tonnes (+29.8%) compared to 2019.
The largest number of journeys by users of the bicycle sharing scheme in Dublin in 2020 was in the month of January when 281,298 journeys were made.
