This publication has been compiled during the COVID-19 crisis. The results contained in this publication reflect some of the economic impacts of the COVID-19 situation.

During 2020, a total of 198,589 penalty point endorsement notices were issued, an increase of 3.9% on the previous year.
74.0% of all penalty point endorsement notices issued in 2020 were for speeding. This compares with 64.3% in 2019.
Males incurred nearly twice as many penalty point endorsement notices as females in 2020. Of the 177,915 endorsement notices where gender was recorded, males incurred 118,413 (66.6%) penalty point endorsement notices while females incurred 59,502 (33.4%) notices.
There were 862 drivers with 12 penalty points on their licences on 31st December 2020, of which 72 drivers received all 12 penalty points in 2020. The total number of drivers with penalty points on their licences was 515,249.
