In this chapter, we look at the population of children and young people living in Ireland. This chapter captures trends between current and past population estimates and maps future projected population of these age groups. This chapter also explores the household compositions of children in Ireland, birth and death rates, and population estimates for certain population subgroups including children in care and children with disabilities.
