This section provides data on alcohol use of children and young people in Ireland. It includes data relating to the frequency of alcohol use in those aged 15 to 25 years.

 The rates of drinking referred to here is defined in the WHO Audit scale as follows:

Hazardous drinking is a pattern of alcohol consumption that increases the risk of harmful consequences for the user or others.

Harmful use refers to alcohol consumption that results in consequences to physical and mental health. Some would also consider social consequences among the harms caused by alcohol.
