A total of 226.7 million passengers were carried on scheduled bus services, 41.8 million passengers travelled on the Luas and 48.0 million passengers travelled by rail in 2018.

Iarnród Éireann carried 516,000 tonnes of freight in 2018. The principal commodity carried was mineral ores.

The largest number of journeys by users of the bicycle sharing scheme in Dublin in 2018 was in the month of July when 379,439 journeys were made. July was also the month when most journeys occurred in Galway (4,678), while May was the month when most journeys occurred in Limerick (2,906). For Cork, October had the most bicycle journeys recorded (33,470).
