There was a total of 2,515,322 vehicles under current licence in 2014, of which 1,943,868 were private cars.
Of the 1,943,868 private cars under licence, 92,361 were new cars licensed for the first time in 2014.
Half (50.9%) of new private cars licensed for the first time in 2014 had an engine capacity of between 1501 and 2000cc, while 94.6% were in either the A or B CO2 emission bands.
