In 2014, Irish licensed vehicles travelled a total of 42.4 billion kilometres. Each vehicle travelled, on average, 16,834 kilometres in 2014.
Private cars accounted for 77.3% of the total number of licensed vehicles and 74.1% of the total distance travelled in 2014. On average, each private car travelled 16,131 kilometres in 2014.
Private cars belonging to residents of County Roscommon were driven further on average than private cars of residents of any other county in 2014.
