Figure 10.1 shows the contributions of each of the different types of expenditure to the total Households Expenditure on Goods & Services in Ireland. Of this total, expenditure on Housing, Water, Electricity, Gas & Other Fuels accounts for 26.5%, Restaurants & Hotels account for 16.0%, Transport accounts for 9.6%, while Food & Non-alcoholic Beverages accounts for 8.0%.

Figure 10.2 above shows the percentage change in each of the components of Households Expenditure on Goods & Services in Ireland in 2022. There were large expenditure increases in areas which had been impacted by the COVID-19 pandemic such as Restaurants & Hotels (up 26.8%) and Recreation & Culture (up 26.1%).
