The Gender Equality Index is a composite index spanning data across the themes of work, money, knowledge, time, power and health. It is compiled by the European Institute for Gender Equality (EIGE).
The Gender Equality Index gives the EU and the Member States a score from 1 to 100. A score of 100 would mean that a country had reached full equality between women and men. The Gender Equality Index is a tool to measure the progress of gender equality in the EU, developed by EIGE. It gives more visibility to areas that need improvement and ultimately supports policy makers to design more effective gender equality measures.
Each year, there is a supplementary report on a thematic focus, deep diving into specific topics. Previous thematic focus' include the European Green Deal, Health and Work-Life Balance.
