The Irish Health Survey included questions on both smoking and vaping. Smoking questions included the smoking of any tobacco products, but excluded heated tobacco products, electronic cigarettes, or similar electronic devices. Vaping questions included the vaping of electronic cigarettes or similar electronic devices.
Males were more likely to report being daily smokers of tobacco than females. Almost a quarter (24.0%) of males aged 35 to 44 years reported being daily smokers of tobacco, the highest rate of any age group.
Daily vaping was more common among younger adults. Females aged 25 to 34 years were the most likely to report daily vaping with almost one in eight doing so (12.8%).
When including everyone who reported vaping or smoking either daily or occasionally, just over one third (35.6%) of males aged 35 to 44 did so - the highest proportion of any group.
