So, if you are asked to take part in one of our surveys, rest assured that everything you tell us is very important but totally confidential.

Is my personal information confidential?

Yes. The confidentiality of your information is guaranteed in law under the Statistics Act, 1993.

We will never provide your personal details, or any other information that may identify you, to government departments, organisations or approved researchers. The information we provide is generalised, anonymous information which can only be used for statistical purposes.

The data will be securely held for as long as it is being used for statistics. Once data is published, the CSO data management policy ensures data is deleted when it is no longer required.
