This chapter looks at data from three of the CSO's Environment and Climate Division's releases: Domestic Metered Public Water Consumption 2018; Domestic Waste Water Treatment Systems 2020 and Fish Landings 2019.
Average | Median | |
2014 | 381 | 246 |
2015 | 384 | 247 |
2016 | 351 | 249 |
2017 | 357 | 255 |
2018 | 368 | 255 |
The average monthly consumption per meter per day in 2018 was 368 litres which was 3.1% higher than the 2017 figure of 357 litres (see Figure 29.1). In contrast to average consumption, the median consumption per meter per day in 2018 of 255 litres was the same as in 2017. Median consumption reflects typical levels of consumption more than average consumption as the median is less affected by meters with very high levels of water use due to leaks.

Landings by Irish vessels in foreign ports decreased by 28.7% or 8,487 tonnes. Landings by foreign vessels in Ireland decreased by 22% or 29,091 tonnes (see Table 29.2).
The highest level of landings by Irish vessels in Ireland during 2010-2019 was in 2012 when 249,205 tonnes were landed (see Figure 29.2).
