This section provides a demographic breakdown of victims of Attempts/Threats to Murder, Assaults, Harassments & Related offences. Please note that the number of victims here are slightly different to the number of incidents in table 2.2 above as there can be incidents where no injured party is recorded.
The overall number of persons recorded as victims of Attempts/Threats to Murder, Assaults, Harassments & Related offences during Q4 2022 increased by 4% or 231 from the same period in 2021. The number of male victims increased by 5% while the number of female victims increased by 4%. See Figure 5.1 and Table 5.1.
Over the period, there were increases in victims of Assault across all male age groups except those between 18 and 29 years. The highest rates of increase were among the older age groups. The number of Assault victims aged 60 years or more increased by 24% or 45 while those aged between 45 and 59 years were up by 22% or 119. These compare with an increase of 7% for victims under 18 years and 5% for those aged 30-44 years. The number of victims aged 18-29 years fell by 9% or 88. See Figure 5.1 and Table 5.1.
The number of female victims increased in all age groups. The highest rate of increase was in the 45-59 age group (+10% or +36) and those 60 years or over (+9% or 9) while there were increases of between 2% and 3% among other age groups. See Figure 5.1 and Table 5.1.
