The MNE dominated sectors of the economy expanded by 0.2% in the third quarter of 2025. The Industry (excluding Construction) sector contracted by 0.7% in the quarter, while the Information & Communication sector grew by 0.6% in the quarter. Overall, the non-MNE sectors contracted by 0.1% in the quarter. However, there was strong growth in the domestic facing Financial & Insurance Activities sector of 7.8%. The Agriculture, Forestry & Fishing and Arts & Entertainment sectors posted robust growth of 3.3% and 3.0% respectively. The domestic facing sectors which posted declines were Construction which decreased by 3.3% and Public Administration, Education & Health which fell by 0.8%. (See Tables 2.5 and 6.3). Estimates for the third quarter of 2025 indicate that there was an increase of 10.8% in GDP in real terms in Q3 2025 compared with Q3 2024. Gross Value Added (GVA) for the MNE-dominated sectors expanded by 21.3% in Q3 2025 compared with Q3 2024. The Industry (excluding Construction) sector increased by 24.2% in Q3 compared with the equivalent quarter of 2024 while the Information and Communication sector rose by 9.5% year-on-year over the same period.
Of the domestic based economic sectors, Real Estate Activities increased by 4.4% year-on-year while Financial & Insurance Activities grew by 4.1% over the same period. Other sectors to record growth in Q3 2025 compared to the equivalent quarter last year were Construction (4.0%), Distribution, Transport, Hotels & Restaurants (2.7%), Arts & Entertainment (2.5%) and Public Administration, Education & Health (0.3%). Contractions were seen in Professional & Administrative Services (-9.1%) and Agriculture, Forestry & Fishing (-4.7%).
Overall, the domestic based sectors fell by 0.6% year-on-year in the third quarter of 2025 compared with Q3 2024. (See Tables 2.3 and 6.2).
