The Information Society Statistics - Enterprises publication shows the results from the Survey on E-Commerce and Information & Communications Technology (ICT) 2023. This version of the annual survey was conducted in the first half of 2023. The survey covers enterprises with 10 or more persons employed in the Manufacturing, Construction, and selected Services sectors. Approximately 4,000 enterprises were surveyed online, with 50.3% of sampled enterprises completing the survey.
The survey questionnaire changes from year to year to reflect changes in E-Commerce and ICT in enterprises. New modules are introduced each year and modules that have not been included may be re-introduced in future years. The 2023 survey included questions on Internet Access and Usage, E-Commerce, Data Analytics, Cloud Computing, Artificial Intelligence, and Invoicing.
The 2023 results show that almost half (49%) of large (250 or more persons employed) enterprises had broadband speed of at least 500 Mbps, compared with 42% of medium (50-249 persons employed) enterprises and 28% of small (10-49 persons employed) enterprises. Of small enterprises, 13% had no fixed broadband, compared with 7.8% of medium enterprises and 3.1% of large enterprises.
The percentage of enterprises using social media in 2023 was 75%, which was an increase from 71% in 2019. In 2023, 72% of enterprises used social networks, 31% used multimedia sharing websites, and 18% used blogs or microblogs.
In 2023, 39% of enterprises paid to advertise on the internet. Of these, 22% advertised based on users’ web content or searches, 12% advertised based on geolocation, 7% advertised based on tracking past activities or user profiles, and 6% used another form of targeted advertising.
