The Central Statistics Office (CSO) has today (15 February 2022) released Agricultural Price Indices December and Year 2021.

Commenting on the release, Anthony Dawson, Statistician, said: “Today’s release details price indices for December 2021 and the annual price indices for 2021. The most significant change is in the price of fertilisers where the price index is up 86.9% in the month of December 2021 when compared with the monthly price in December 2020.

More generally, the annual output price index is up 11.5% in 2021 with the increase in milk prices which are up 16.3% in 2021 being a driving factor. The increases in annual energy and fertiliser prices, up 15.2% and 25.1% respectively, has resulted in the annual input price index rising by 9.2% for the year 2021.

Monthly output prices are up 3.9% in December 2021 compared to November 2021 while input prices are down 3.7% in December 2021 when compared to November 2021.”

Editor's Note:
