The information you give us lets us create a very accurate picture of what it means to live in Ireland today - our lives, our economy, our health, our happiness and well-being.
The purpose of the Recreation in Nature Survey is to collect information on how households across Ireland interact with the environment, particularly in relation to time spent outdoors in green and natural spaces.
In this survey, by green and natural spaces we mean 'green' outdoor spaces in cities and towns such as parks and canals and those in the countryside such as mountains, forests, or farmlands. Spaces near water such as lakes, reservoirs, rivers, and the sea are also included here. We want to collect information about your visits to these spaces, and the benefit of time in these spaces to your well-being.
This nationwide survey of households gives us an accurate picture of how important the environment is to households and individuals.
The statistics we produce are used by people, businesses, local authorities and national government to make policy decisions and to plan for our futures.
We depend on your information, so please take part because your voice matters.
The CSO has set up a panel of randomly selected citizens to participate in a series of short surveys. If you were selected for this panel, you will be contacted by email or phone to complete this survey.
If you are contacted via email, information on how to take part in the Recreation in Nature Survey will be included in the email. If we contact you by phone, you can complete the survey by answering the survey questions over the phone.
