All Energy Fuels were down by 7.8% in May 2026 compared with April 2026, and up 37.0% comparing May 2026 with May 2025.
Wholesale electricity prices rose by 10.1% in the month to May 2026 and were 33.1% higher than May 2025.
Domestic producer prices for manufactured goods were on average 3.7% higher in May 2026 compared with May 2025, while producer prices for exported goods were up by 1.2%. Overall, manufacturing producer prices were 1.6% higher in the 12 months to May 2026.
Producer prices for food products increased by 1.3% in the 12 months to May 2026, while the Food Products, Beverages & Tobacco Index was up by 1.0%.
One of the most notable changes in producer prices for food products over the 12 months to May 2026 was Fish & Fish Products (+8.9%).
The most noteworthy changes in other producer prices in the year to May 2026 were: Chemicals & Chemical Products (+11.9%), Fabricated Metal Products, except Machinery & Equipment (+4.8%), Other Non-Metallic Mineral Products (+4.5%), and Basic Metals (+4.2%).
Wholesale prices for Construction Products increased by 1.2% in the month to May 2026 and rose by 3.1% in the 12 months since May 2025.

Notable annual increases and decreases in Construction Products as shown in Table 3 include:
The Building & Construction Index (i.e. Materials and Wages) rose by 0.6% in the month to May 2026 and was up by 3.2% in the 12 months to May 2026. This index combines the All Materials Index with a measure of the change of wages in the Construction sector to provide an overall index for input construction costs (See Table 4).
There was a rise of 10.1% in the price of wholesale electricity in May 2026. The price of electricity was 33.1% higher than in May 2025 but was 62.7% lower when compared with the peak that occurred in August 2022.
The price index for All Energy Fuels fell by 7.8% in May 2026 but was up by 37.0% in the year since May 2025. This has been largely driven by increases in Fuel Oil (+47.0% in the year) and Gas Oil (other than autodiesel) (+35.8% in the year).
The overall Energy Products Index has risen by 4.8% since April 2026 and was 34.2% higher when compared with May 2025 (See Figure 3 and Table 5).

Statistician's Comment
The Central Statistics Office (CSO) has today (22 June 2026) published the Wholesale Price Index (WPI) for May 2026.
Commenting on the release, Deirdre Toher, Statistician in the Prices Division, said:
“Wholesale price inflation showed an increase in May 2026 with a 0.9% growth in the overall Producer Price Index for manufacturing industries in the month.
The price index for export sales was up by 0.9% since April 2026, while the index for home sales was up by 0.4% in the month.
Producer prices for products sold on the domestic market were 3.7% higher in May 2026 compared with May 2025. In the 12 months to May 2026, export producer prices rose by 1.2%, while overall producer prices were up by 1.6%.
Electricity, Energy Fuels and Food Prices
Wholesale electricity prices rose by 10.1% in May 2026 when compared with April 2026 and were 33.1% higher than May 2025. They have fallen by 62.7% when compared with the peak that occurred in August 2022.
All Energy Fuels were down by 7.8% in the month, largely driven by decreases in Fuel Oil (-9.7%) and Gas Oil (other than autodiesel) (-6.6%). However, All Energy Fuels were up 37.0% since May 2025.
Producer prices for food products increased by 0.7% since April 2026 and rose by 1.3% in the year since May 2025. One of the most notable changes in producer prices for food products over the 12 months to May 2026 was Fish & Fish Products (+8.9%) (See Table 2).
Construction Products
The All Materials Index for Construction Products increased by 1.2% in May 2026 and rose by 3.1% in the 12 months since May 2025. The Building & Construction Index (i.e. Materials and Wages) was up by 0.6% in the month and was 3.2% higher than May 2025 (See Tables 3 and 4).”
