All Energy Fuels were up by 32.6% in April 2026 compared with March 2026, and up 42.3% comparing April 2026 with April 2025.
Wholesale electricity prices rose by 1.9% in the month to April 2026 and were 18.0% higher than April 2025.
Domestic producer prices for manufactured goods were on average 3.4% higher in April 2026 compared with April 2025, while producer prices for exported goods were up by 1.2%. Overall, manufacturing producer prices were 1.4% higher in the 12 months to April 2026.
Producer prices for food products increased by 1.0% in the 12 months to April 2026, while the Food Products, Beverages & Tobacco Index was up by 0.8%.
One of the most notable changes in producer prices for food products over the 12 months to April 2026 was in Fish & Fish Products (+8.6%).
The most noteworthy changes in other producer prices in the year to April 2026 were: Chemicals & Chemical Products (+11.9%), Fabricated Metal Products, except Machinery & Equipment (+5.0%), Pulp, Paper & Paper Products (+4.1%), Other Non-Metallic Mineral Products (+3.6%), and Printing & Reproduction of Recorded Media (+2.7%).
Wholesale prices for Construction Products increased by 0.4% in the month to April 2026 and rose by 2.0% in the 12 months since April 2025.

Notable annual increases and decreases in Construction Products as shown in Table 3 include:
The Building & Construction Index (i.e. Materials and Wages) rose by 0.2% in the month to April 2026 and was up by 2.7% in the 12 months to April 2026. This index combines the All Materials Index with a measure of the change of wages in the Construction sector to provide an overall index for input construction costs (See Table 4).
There was a rise of 1.9% in the price of wholesale electricity in April 2026. The price of electricity was 18.0% higher than in April 2025 but was 66.2% lower when compared with the peak that occurred in August 2022.
The price index for All Energy Fuels rose by 32.6% in April 2026 and was up by 42.3% in the year since April 2025 and is close to the peak that occurred in June 2022. This has been largely driven by increases in Fuel Oil (+53.7% in the year) and Gas Oil (other than autodiesel) (+45.2% in the year). Fuel Oil prices are at their highest recorded value since this series started in 2021, while Gas Oil (other than autodiesel) prices are at their highest since July 2022.
The overall Energy Products Index has risen by 9.5% since March 2026 and was 24.4% higher when compared with April 2025 (See Figure 3 and Table 5).

Statistician's Comment
The Central Statistics Office (CSO) has today (22 May 2026) published the Wholesale Price Index (WPI) for April 2026.
Commenting on the release, Deirdre Toher, Statistician in the Prices Division, said:
“Wholesale price inflation showed an increase in April 2026 with a 0.2% growth in the overall Producer Price Index for manufacturing industries in the month.
The price index for export sales was up by 0.2% since March 2026, while the index for home sales was down by 0.2% in the month.
Producer prices for products sold on the domestic market were 3.4% higher in April 2026 compared with April 2025. In the 12 months to April 2026, export producer prices rose by 1.2%, while overall producer prices were up by 1.4%.
Electricity, Energy Fuels and Food Prices
Wholesale electricity prices rose by 1.9% in April 2026 when compared with March 2026 and were 18.0% higher than April 2025. They have fallen by 66.2% when compared with the peak that occurred in August 2022.
All Energy Fuels were up by 32.6% in the month, largely driven by increases in Fuel Oil (+50.1%) and Gas Oil (other than autodiesel) (+16.9%). Fuel Oil prices are at their highest recorded value since this series started in 2021, while Gas Oil (other than autodiesel) prices are at their highest since July 2022.
Producer prices for food products increased by 1.8% since March 2026 and rose by 1.0% in the year since April 2025. Some of the most notable changes in producer prices for food products over the 12 months to April 2026 were for Fish & Fish Products (+8.6%) (See Table 2).
Construction Products
The All Materials Index for Construction Products increased by 0.4% in April 2026 and rose by 2.0% in the 12 months since April 2025. The Building & Construction Index (i.e. Materials and Wages) was up by 0.2% in the month and was 2.7% higher than the same month last year (See Tables 3 and 4).”
