Transport Omnibus 2017

  • In 2017, a total of 12,829 trading vessels (of 100 gross tonnes or more) arrived in Irish ports.

  • In total, 53.3 million tonnes of goods were handled by Irish ports, of which, 35.5 million tonnes of goods were unloaded and 17.8 million tonnes were loaded.

  • Dublin port was the busiest port, handling almost half (46.9%) of all goods in 2017.

  • In 2017, the busiest ferry route was the Dublin - Holyhead route, which accounted for 64.7% of all passengers on scheduled ferry services.
