Trade surplus of €34 billion with the USA in 2021

Ireland’s largest trading surplus in 2021 was with the USA. The value of exports to the USA was €34 billion greater than the value of imports. There was a surplus of €11 billion with Belgium, and a surplus of over €10 billion with Germany.

The largest trade deficit in 2021 was with France, with €5.3 billion of exports and €10.3 billion of imports recorded, giving a trading deficit of almost €5 billion. A significant share of the imports from France are aircraft.
