A Note on Revisions and Corrections

In Q1 2026, the Services Producer Price Index (SPPI) underwent revisions to correct coding errors within the aggregation processes. Alongside these corrections, the methodology has been revised, and now the sub sectoral series are published at NACE 2- and 3-digit level where relevant and where confidentiality rules allow. The amended data since Q1 2021 is available in PxStat tables SPP05, SPP06, SPP09 and SPP10.

This Services Producer Price Index Revisions 2026 note published alongside the Q1 2026 SPPI release contains further details about the revisions.

Statistician's Comment

The Central Statistics Office (CSO) has today (15 June 2026) published the Services Producer Price Index Quarter 1 (Q1) 2026.

The Services Producer Price Index (SPPI) is a business cycle indicator which provides information on the development of prices for numerous services sectors. This information is used for the analysis of inflation and its sources, but also for the deflation of value measures in the service industry (See Background Notes).

Commenting on the release, Diarmuid Martin, Statistician in the Prices Division, said: "Services Prices charged to businesses and consumers in January, February, and March (Q1) 2026 were on average 1.3% higher when compared with Q1 2025 (See Table 1 and Figure 1). In comparison, the Services Producer Price Index for Q1 2025 reported an annual percentage change of 2.8% (See Table 1).

In the 12 months to Q1 2026, increases were recorded in numerous sectors including Management Consultancy (+22.0%), Travel Services (+14.2%), and Advertising (+11.1%).

This rise was contrasted with a price fall in a range of sectors including Telecommunications (-10.7%) and Warehousing & Transportation Support (-5.9%) when compared with Q1 2025 (See Table 2 and Figure 2)."
