This report builds on progress outlined in a series of Central Statistics Office (CSO) publications which monitor the achievement of Ireland’s targets in respect of SDG Goal 3, Good Health and Well-Being.
The CSO is supported by a whole-of-government approach to the SDGs, which ensures a coherent approach across all sectors to the development of reports, informed by similar coherence in relation to SDG-related policies.
This latest publication includes data for Ireland highlighting trends in relation to maternal and infant mortality, and to communicable diseases including COVID-19, HIV, Hepatitis B and other diseases. It also outlines population levels and trends in relation to non-communicable diseases, to suicide, to interventions in respect of substance use disorders, to alcohol consumption and to road fatalities. The report on SDG 3.7 and SDG 3.8 outlines progress in relation to the provision of healthcare, including family planning, essential health services and household expenditure on health. Environmental data in relation to air and water quality, and to incidence of unintentional poisoning is set out in the report on SDG 3.9, with the final report covering tobacco use, vaccines, overseas assistance, health facilities and workforce, health surveillance and capacity, and information pertaining to Antimicrobial Resistance (AMR).
