Domestic Milk Intake by milk processors and co-ops was estimated at 510.0 million litres in November 2024, an increase of 128.3 million litres (+33.6%) when compared with November 2023 and was 25.1 million litres (5.2%) higher when compared with the same month in 2022. The November 2024 milk intake was the highest recorded milk intake in any November since the series began in 1975.
Fat content for November 2024 was 4.99%, down marginally from 5.00% in November 2023. Protein content was up from 3.87% to 3.98% in the 12 months to November 2024.
Skim Milk Powder production dropped from 7,300 tonnes in November 2023 to 6,100 tonnes in November 2024, a decrease of 1,200 tonnes.
For the period January to November 2024, Domestic Milk Intake was estimated at 8.16 billion litres, a drop of 90.8 million litres (-1.1%) when compared with the same period in 2023, and down by 379.6 million litres (-4.4%) when compared with January to November 2022.

The Central Statistics Office (CSO) has today (10 January 2025) published Milk Statistics for November 2024.
Commenting on the release, Stephanie Kelleher, Statistician in the Agriculture Section of the CSO, said: “Today’s figures show that the Domestic Milk Intake in November 2024 by milk processors and co-ops rose by 128.3 million litres, or 33.6%, compared with the same month in 2023. The Domestic Milk Intake for the period January to November 2024 was at 8.16 billion litres, a fall of 1.1% compared with the corresponding value between January and November 2023.
