Median weekly earnings increased by 3.9% from €730.89 in 2024 to €759.21 in 2025. Over the same period, the Consumer Price Index increased by 2.2%. The Information & Communication sector recorded the highest median weekly earnings in 2025 at €1,515.67, an increase of 5.2% on the equivalent figure in 2024. For employments in the Information & Communication sector, median weekly earnings were 24.8% higher among males (€1,635.39) compared with their female counterparts (€1,310.62). The Financial, Insurance & Real Estate sector had the next highest median weekly earnings at €1,086.76. In contrast, the lowest median earnings were recorded in the Accommodation & Food Services sector at €409.00 (See Table 3.3).
Median weekly earnings increased across each economic sector. Employments in Financial, Insurance & Real Estate recorded the largest annual increase in earnings at 5.8%. Similarly, employments in Information & Communication recorded an increase in median weekly earnings of 5.2%, while earnings among those in Professional, Scientific & Technical Activities rose by 1.7%.
Median weekly earnings in the public sector stood at €1,051.48, up 4.2% from €1,009.44 in 2024, while employments in the private sector recorded an annual increase of 3.3% in median weekly earnings, from €661.87 in 2024 to €684.00 in 2025.

Table 3.4 below presents the annual percentage change in mean and median weekly earnings for employments that were active in October of each reference year i.e. where the employee was in the same employment during both years being analysed. For example, for 2024 - 2025 only employments that existed in October in both 2024 and 2025 were included for analysis. If an employment existed in October 2024 but not in October 2025, or vice-versa, then it was excluded from analysis.
More than three-quarters (76.8%) of employments active in 2024, remained active into 2025. This was an increase of 0.7 percentage points on the proportion of employments that remained active between 2023 and 2024 (76.1%). Among the continuously active employments between 2024 and 2025, median weekly earnings increased by 6.1%.
