Purchasing Power Parities (PPP) surveys run by the CSO are funded by the European Union through annual grants administered by Eurostat.
The results show that Iceland was the most expensive of the 36 countries for Alcoholic Beverages, with drink prices 185% above the EU27 average. Alcohol was cheapest in Italy where prices were 16% below the EU27 average. Within the European Union Finland was the most expensive and Italy was the least expensive of the European Union countries.
Ireland was the 5th most expensive of the 36 countries for Alcoholic Beverages and 2nd most expensive in the European Union and Eurozone.
For Alcoholic Beverages the most expensive of the 36 countries was almost 3.5 times more expensive than the least expensive country. The price level for Alcoholic Beverages in Ireland was approximately 98% above the EU average.
