Comparative Price Levels for Food, Beverages and Tobacco 2018

Of the 37 countries the price levels for Fruits, Vegetables and Potatoes were highest in Norway (58% above the EU28 average) and lowest in North Macedonia (47% below the EU28 average). In Ireland prices were 26% above the EU 28 average, on a par with those observed in Austria, while prices in the United Kingdom were 2% below the average. 

 

Prices for Fruits, Vegetables and Potatoes showed less variation across the Eurozone countries. Of the Eurozone countries the highest prices were observed in Finland (29% above the EU28 average) while prices in Lithuania were 28% below the EU28 average, making it the least expensive Eurozone country for Fruits, Vegetables and Potatoes, see table 11.1 below.

 

Of the 37 countries Ireland and Austria were the joint 6th most expensive country and the joint 3rd most expensive of the Eurozone countries for Fruits, Vegetables and Potatoes.
