Tomorrow at noon (October 16th), Minister Damien English T.D. will award the John Hooper Medal for Statistics 2014 and the Alice Perry Medal apps4gaps 2014. The prize giving will take place at the Clock Tower, Dept. of Education & Skills, Marlborough Street, Dublin 1 beginning at 12 noon.
As part of the proceedings, Minister Damien English will formally launch the John Hooper Medal for Statistics Poster Competition, 2015. Details are available on the CSO website at:

This is Maths Week and the Central Statistics Office is playing its part.
Padraig Dalton, Director General of the Central Statistics Office will formally launch the CensusAtSchool 2014/2015 questionnaire which has some really interesting questions about households and families. Besides these topics there are diverse questions on the cost of the last pair of jeans you bought, allergies, fame and your level of interest in politics. Felix Coleman, a statistician in the Central Statistics Office (CSO) will launch, a special statistical release, with the findings from the latest CensusAtSchool 2013/2014 questionnaire. The CensusAtSchool 2013/2014 questionnaire posed some interesting questions. Minister Damien English T.D. will award the John Hooper Medal for Statistics 2014. Prizes will be presented to the students with the top three winning posters and their schools. Also present at the event will be the students whose posters were given an order of merit by the judges of the poster competition.
Following the awarding of the John Hooper Medal, Minister Damien English T.D. will present the prizes for the Alice Perry Medal apps4gaps competition.
After the prize giving by Minister Damien English prize winners will give a short presentation on their winning poster or winning app.
Dr. Anne Brosnan, National Coordinator of Project Maths will act as master of ceremonies.
