Airport Pairings Data

The Central Statistics Office announced the release of the “Airport Pairings” database today.

This database contains information of every direct flight in and out of the 9 Irish airports on a monthly basis. The database is dynamic, allowing users to break down monthly passenger numbers for each airport in the Republic of Ireland by any direct overseas route.

Users can easily search for passenger numbers by Airport, City or Country. The data are published with a six month time lag in order to protect commercial sensitivities. Currently data are available from January 2006 to June 2007.

The database is available at the following link: http://tinyurl.com/2nypw8

Some highlights from the 2006 data were:

  • Dublin to London Heathrow was the busiest route.
  • The busiest route excluding UK destinations was Dublin to Charles De Gaulle.
  • The busiest route outside of Dublin was Cork - London Heathrow.
  • Dublin to Malaga was the 7th busiest Route in 2006.

The CSO will officially launch the Airport Pairings Database, with a demonstration at their Business Statistics Seminar this afternoon.
