The next recruitment competition is for the Census Field Supervisor. There will be 466 Field Supervisor jobs available throughout the country.
Census Field Supervisors will be assigned to one of the 466 census field districts in the country. They will ensure the successful delivery of the census within their field district. Their work will be based in their home, and in the field under the direction of a Census Regional Supervisor. They will recruit, train and manage a team of 9-12 Field Support Officers. Successful applicants will work full-time on a five month-contract from January to June 2027.

On 23 November, the final stage of the recruitment will open for over 3,800 Census Field Support Officers (formerly Census Enumerators). Jobs will be available in local areas countywide. This is a temporary, eight-week contract from 05 April to 28 May 2027. Applications will be online at this time on census.ie.
Census Field Staff are organised in a pyramid-like structure. The six Census Liaison Officers each manage a for a team of 7–8 Regional Supervisors who in turn manage their teams of 9-10 Census Field Supervisors. While the Census Field Supervisors manage a team of 9-12 Census Field Support Officers.
Census Liaison Officers and Regional Supervisors have already been recruited. These are the recruitments for 2026.
