  • The Macroeconomic Dashboard is an experimental tool which users may find useful to explore many of the key macroeconomic indicators for Ireland. It allows users to explore various tables in PxStat, the CSO data dissemination tool. Some of the Dashboard's functionality for interacting with PxStat tables include:

    • Selecting variables for graphical display.
    • Choosing whether to view the data in terms of levels, growth rates or as an index with a specified base year.
    • Down sampling the data to a lower frequency.
    • Smoothing the data with a rolling mean.
    • Customising the date period to be displayed.

Outside of data visualisations, there is also functionality provided to manipulate PxStat tables and download the processed data.

The app is an experimental tool subject to ongoing development. Users are encouraged to share their experiences and suggestions for improvement. Please send your feedback to nat_acc@cso.ie.

The dashboard was built using R-Shiny, a framework for creating web applications directly from the popular statistical programming language R.

The data is sourced from PxStat, the CSO data dissemination tool. The latest data is automatically pulled from PxStat each day after 11.00am following the publication of new releases.

This experimental tool is provided as a supplementary resource for exploring Ireland’s macroeconomic outputs. It is not an official CSO product with commensurate website and policy priorities. For all purposes of any consequence, users should continue to rely on CSO statistical releases and/or PxStat.
