The number of births decreased by 902 (5.9%) while deaths decreased by 247 (3.4%) compared to the same period in 2019.

There were 14,477 births in quarter 3 2020, 902 births or 5.9% less than the same period in 2019. This corresponds to a birth rate of 11.6 per 1,000 population, a decrease of 0.9 per thousand population from quarter 3 2019.

There were 7,111 deaths in quarter 3 2020, a decrease of 3.4% (or 247 deaths) from quarter 3 2019. This equates to a death rate of 5.7 per 1,000 population, a decrease of 0.3 points from quarter 3 2019.

There were 36 infant deaths registered in quarter 3 2020 giving an infant mortality rate of 2.5 per 1,000 live births.

The number of births less the number of deaths in quarter 3 2020 resulted in a natural increase of population of 7,366 persons.
