The CSO Planning Permissions statistical release is compiled from data provided by 34 Local Authorities and An Bord Pleanála. Returns are received from each local authority and An Bord Pleanála and are compiled and queried if necessary. See Background notes for more information.

The Quarter 2 2021 release covers all planning permissions granted in April, May and June 2021. Data was collected during the COVID-19 pandemic in a period where normal processes and procedures for assessing planning applications faced unprecedented challenges.
