Domestic producer prices for manufactured goods were on average 10.4% higher in September 2022 compared with a year earlier, while producer prices for exported goods increased by 5.9%.
Producer prices for food products rose by 8.9% in the 12 months to September 2022, while the Food Products, Beverages & Tobacco index also saw an increase of 8.9%.
Some of the most notable changes in producer prices for food products over the 12 months to September 2022 were: Dairy Products (+53.2%), Fish & Fish Products (+21.1%), Grain Milling, Starches, & Animal Feeds (+14.5%), and Meat & Meat Products (+8.3%).
The most notable changes in other producer prices in the year were: Wood & Wood Products (+32.4%), Other Non-Metallic Mineral Products (such as glass, ceramics, cement, concrete and stone) (+21.5%), Basic Metals (+18.2%) and Mining & Quarrying (+15.2%).
Wholesale prices for construction products dropped by 0.6% in the month but rose by 16.6% in the 12 months since September 2021.
Wholesale electricity prices were 44.9% higher than in September 2021 but were down by 26.9% since August 2022.

The Building and Construction index (i.e. Materials and Wages) decreased by 0.4% in the month but increased by 10.1% in the 12 months to September 2022. This index combines the All Materials Index with a measure of the change in wages in the construction sector to provide an overall index for input construction costs. See Table 4.
There was a decrease in the price of wholesale electricity in September, with prices 26.9% lower than the previous month. However, the price of electricity was still 44.9% higher than in September 2021. The overall Energy Products Index decreased by 24.4% since August 2022 but increased by 42.7% when compared with September 2021. See Table 5.

Statistician's Comment
Commenting on the release, Jillian Delaney, Statistician in the Prices Division, said: "Producer prices in several food categories were significantly higher in September 2022 compared with the same month last year. Outputs from Irish manufacturers also increased in price in several other categories. See Table 2.
Manufacturing factory gate prices rose by 6.1% in the 12 months to September 2022, compared with an increase of 4.7% in the 12 months to August 2022. There was an increase in manufacturing factory gate prices of 1.4% between August 2022 and September 2022, compared with no change for the same period last year. See Table 1 and Figure 1.
In the 12 months to September 2022 there was a rise of 10.4% in the price index for home sales, and an increase of 5.9% in the price index for export sales, which can be influenced by currency fluctuations. In the month, the price index for export sales was up 1.4%, while the index for home sales was up by 0.3%. See Table 2 and Figure 2.
The All Materials Index for construction products fell by 0.6% in the month but has increased by 16.6% in the year. See Table 3.''
