There was a total of 2,805,839 vehicles under current licence in 2019, of which 2,174,779 (77.5%) were private cars.
Of the 2,174,779 private cars under licence, 113,305 were new cars licensed for the first time in 2019.
Of the new private cars licensed for the first time in 2019, 56.6% had an engine capacity of between 1401 and 2000cc, and 91.6% were in either the A or B CO₂ emission bands.
In 2019, 12.7% of new private cars licensed were electric/electric hybrid (14,343).
