In 2019, Irish licensed vehicles travelled a total of 47.1 billion kilometres. Each vehicle travelled, on average, 16,867 kilometres in 2019.
Private cars accounted for 77.7% of the total number of licensed vehicles and 75.3% of the total distance travelled in 2019. On average, each private car travelled 16,352 kilometres in 2019.
