Road Safety and Road Lengths

  • In 2019, 140 people were killed on Irish roads. This represents an increase of 1 fatality when compared with 2018.

  • Data on road traffic injuries and detailed data on road fatalities only becomes available following the conclusion of investigations by An Garda Síochána. Data up to 2018 is now available in tables 4.4 to 4.14.

  • Data for 2018 shows that 78.4% of people killed on Irish roads were male. Almost 6 in 10 (57.5%) of those injured in 2018 were male.
