Agri-food exports increasing
The agri-food sector is of particular interest to economic analysts and commentators. It is a sector which is labour and employment intensive, so it is interesting to examine the exports from this sector in more detail.
Exports from the agri-food sector grew from €14.1 billion in 2013 to €17.2 billion in 2016, an increase of almost 22%.
In 2016, there were 589 SMEs in the agri-food sector, exporting €2.7 billion of goods.
Large enterprises accounted for €14.5 billion (84%) of all exports from the agri-food sector in 2016. This has increased from €11.4 billion in 2013, an increase of 27%.
