Number of passengers handled by Dublin airport surpassed pre-pandemic figures

Dublin passenger numbers in March 2023 up 1% compared with March 2019

The number of passengers in Dublin airport over the first three months of the year were 2% higher than pre-pandemic 2019 figures. There were 6,589,570 passengers handled by Dublin airport between January and the end of March 2023 compared with 6,480,314 passengers in the same period in 2019.

Looking at March 2023, figures show that the number of passengers in Dublin was 35% higher than March 2022 figures, and 1% higher than those seen in the same month in 2019 (before COVID-19). There were 2,817,569 passengers handled by Dublin, Cork, Knock and Shannon airports in March 2023 compared with 2,762,145 for the same month in 2019. 

(Note: Knock airport was closed from April to June 2020 and from February to May 2021. Cork Airport was closed in October 2021. Data for Kerry not available at time of publication).
