NI registered HGVs carried 45.6 million tonnes of goods on 3.2 million laden journeys in Ireland in 2017 and the amount of freight activity, as measured by tonnes-kilometres, was 3.4 billion.
The average number of registered goods vehicles in Northern Ireland was an estimated 20,887 in 2017 and these vehicles travelled a total of 429 million kilometres.

In 2017, a total of 10,209 vessels arrived at Northern Irish ports, a decrease of 1.9% on 2016. Roll-on/roll-off vessels accounted for almost two thirds (64%) of total arrivals.

During 2017, 8.59 million terminal passengers passed through Northern Ireland airports, 6% higher than the 2016 figure (8.10 million).
In 2017, 31,010 tonnes of freight were handled at Northern Ireland airports, a decrease of 5% from 2016 (32,776 tonnes).
There were 80,494 air transport movements (landings and takeoffs) during 2017, a decrease of 1% from the 2016 figure of 81,506.
Between 2016 and 2017, air transport movements at Belfast International airport increased by 9%, George Best Belfast City airport decreased by 11% and City of Derry airport increased by 3%.
In 2017, Belfast International airport accounted for 52% of all air transport movements, George Best Belfast City airport 46% and City of Derry airport 2%.
