Social protection expenditure in 2022 amounted to €58.4 billion. This was a decrease of €1.3 billion (1.3%) on 2021.
Spending on the Sickness function was €25.3bn.
Spending on the Old Age function was €15.9bn.
Spending on Family Function was €5.3bn.
Spending on the Disability function was €3.1bn.
Spending on the Unemployment function was €2.5bn.
Spending on the Housing function was €2.3bn.
Spending on Administration was €2.1bn.
Spending the Survivor function was €1.5bn.
Spending on the Social Exclusion function was €0.4bn.
