Serious crimes against the person include Homicide & Related offences, Sexual offences and Attempts/Threats to Murder, Assaults, Harassments & Related offences.

The suspected offenders were male for:

82% of crime incidents of Homicide & Related offences.
99% of crime incidents of Sexual offences.
78% of crime incidents of Attempts/Threats to Murder, Assaults, Harassments & Related offences. See Figure 3.1, Table 3.1, and PxStat Table CVA08.

Just over a fifth of suspected offenders of Harassment & Related offences were under 18 years when the incident occurred

Of the 208 suspected offenders of detected crime incidents of Harassment & Related offences in 2024, 43 or 21% were under 18 years when the crime incident took place. The share of suspected offenders for this offence group aged 18-29 years was 17% and most of the remainder were aged between 30 and 59 years.

Crime incidents of Harassment & Related offences would include coercion or coercive control, harassment, incitement to hatred, distributing/publishing/recording intimate image(s), distribution of grossly offensive communications to cause harm and recording intimate image(s) to cause interference or alarm.

Nearly seven in ten (68%) suspected offenders for detected crime incidents of Sexual offences were aged between 18 and 44 years of age when the incident occurred. A further 24% were at least 45 years of age and 9% were under 18 years of age.

About two-thirds (65%) of suspected offenders of assault crime incidents in 2024 that were detected were aged between 18 and 44 years. A fifth (20%) were at least 45 years of age while a further 15% were under 18 years when the incident took place.

Nearly all (98%) suspected offenders of detected crime incidents of Homicide & Related offences in 2024 were at least 18 years of age when the incident occurred. See Figure 3.2, Table 3.2, and PxStat Table CVA09.
