The MNE dominated sectors of the economy contracted by 2.6% in the fourth quarter of 2025. The Industry (excluding Construction) sector contracted by 3.6% in the quarter, while the Information & Communication sector expanded by 4.5% in the quarter. Overall, the non-MNE sectors increased by 1.6% in the quarter. The Agriculture, Forestry & Fishing and Distribution, Transport, Hotels & Restaurants sectors posted increases of 3.9% and 3.8% respectively. The Financial & Insurance sector rose by 3.6% in the quarter while Real Estate activities grew by 1.9% over the same period. More modest growth was recorded in Professional & Administrative Services (+0.5%) and Public Administration, Education & Health (+0.1%) The domestic facing sectors which posted declines were Construction which decreased by 3.0% and Arts & Entertainment which fell by 1.0%. Estimates for the fourth quarter of 2025 indicate that there was an increase of 2.2% in GDP in real terms in Q4 2025 compared with Q4 2024. Gross Value Added (GVA) for the MNE-dominated sectors expanded by 9.1% in Q4 2025 compared with Q4 2024. The Industry (excluding Construction) sector increased by 7.9% in Q4 compared with the equivalent quarter of 2024 while the Information and Communication sector rose by 7.4% year-on-year over the same period.
Of the domestic based economic sectors, Agriculture, Forestry & Fishing recorded strong growth of 11.8% in Q4 2025 compared with Q4 2024 while the Financial & Insurance sector increased by 6.1% over the same period. The Real Estate activities sector grew by 5.5% year-on-year, Distribution, Transport, Hotels & Restaurants rose by 4.5% while Construction increased by 0.7%. Contractions were seen in Professional & Administrative Services (-2.8%), Arts & Entertainment (-0.6%) and Public Administration, Education & Health (-0.2%)
Overall, the domestic based sectors grew by 1.1% year-on-year in the fourth quarter of 2025 compared with Q4 2024. (See Tables 2.3 and 6.2).
