On the expenditure side of the accounts (Table 3.5), Capital Investment, showed an increase of €12.3 billion in Q4 compared with the previous quarter and accounted for 46.9% of total domestic demand in Q4 2021.
Personal Consumption Expenditure decreased by 0.3% in Q4 compared to Q3, while Government expenditure showed an increase of 0.9% over the same period. Combining this with the decline in net exports, there was an overall decrease in real GDP of 5.4% in Q4 compared to Q3.

Comparisons with Q4 2020
On the expenditure side of the accounts (Table 3.3) Capital Investment grew by €8.4 billion. Personal Consumption showed an increase of 9.3% while Government expenditure increased by 1.4% over the same period.
