On the expenditure side of the accounts, Capital Investment decreased by €2.4 billion in Q1 compared with the previous quarter and accounted for 39.1% of total domestic demand in Q1 2023. (See Table 3.5)
Personal Consumption Expenditure grew by 1.7% in Q1 2023 compared to Q4 2022, while Government expenditure decreased by 3.5% over the same period. There was an overall decrease in real GDP of 4.6%.

On the expenditure side of the accounts, Capital Investment increased by 0.6%. (See Table 3.3). Personal Consumption showed an increase of 6.4% while Government expenditure fell by 2.4% over the same period. Exports of Goods and Services increased by 6.3% (or €9.4 billion) in Q1 2023 compared with the same quarter of 2022. Imports of Goods and Services grew by 13.5% (or €13.2 billion) over the same period. Net Exports therefore decreased by 7.4% (or €3.8 billion) over the period year-on-year.
