Domestic Milk Intake up 7.5% in October 2022

Key Findings

  • Domestic Milk Intake by creameries and pasteurisers was estimated at 698.5 million litres for October 2022. This represents a 7.5% increase when compared with October 2021.

  • Domestic Milk Intake for the period January to October 2022 was estimated at 8,063.4 million litres, an increase of 29.5 million litres (+0.4%) when compared with the corresponding period for 2021.

  • Fat content increased from 4.77% in October 2021 to 4.81% in October 2022. Protein content also increased from 3.95% to 3.97% over the same period.

  • Butter production decreased from 22,100 tonnes in October 2021 to 21,600 tonnes in October 2022.

Statistician's Comment

The Central Statistics Office (CSO) has today (30 November 2022) published Milk Statistics for October 2022. 

Commenting on the release, Dr Grzegorz Głaczyński, Statistician in the Agriculture Section of the CSO, said:

“The figures show an increase in domestic milk intake by creameries and pasteurisers of 7.5% in October 2022, when compared with the same month in 2021. Domestic milk intake increased during the period January to October 2022 (+0.4%), compared with the same period in 2021."
