Livestock Slaughterings September 2022

The number of cattle slaughtered during the period January to September 2022 increased by 7.7%

Key Findings

  • Sheep slaughterings rose by 7.6% between January and September 2022 when compared with the same period in 2021.

  • An analysis of the data for September 2022 compared with September 2021 shows that cattle slaughterings increased by 4.5%.

  • The number of sheep slaughtered rose by 3.9% in September 2022 compared with September 2021. 

  • Pig slaughterings decreased by 3.7% in September 2022 compared with September 2021.

Table 1.1 presents analysis on month versus month and year-to-date comparisons of the current year and the previous year's livestock slaughterings. Figure 1 shows year-to-date trends of livestock slaughterings from 2020 to 2022.
