In 2025, almost two in five enterprises (37.5%) in Ireland had e-commerce sales. An e-commerce sale is a sale conducted over computer networks via websites, apps or Electronic Data Interchange (EDI) of goods or services. For large enterprises, 53.5% had internet sales, compared with 50.2% of medium sized enterprises and 34.9% of small enterprises.
In the Services sector, 41.7% of enterprises conducted sales by internet in 2025, with 37.7% of enterprises conducting sales through websites, while 10.1% of enterprises indicated they conducted sales through EDI.
Almost two in five (38.8%) Manufacturing enterprises conducted sales electronically in 2025, with 23.3% of enterprises conducting sales through websites, and more than two in ten (21.6%) indicating they made sales by EDI.
In 2025, 10.1% of Construction enterprises conducted sales by internet, with 8.2% of enterprises conducting sales through websites, and 3.3% indicating they made sales by EDI.
